Coinciding with its 40th anniversary, Italian firm Sonus faber has unveiled the next iteration of its Stradivari loudspeaker model. This revamped version is described as a fusion of artistic redesign and technological advancements, paying homage to the initial Stradivari release from the early 2000s.
Drawing inspiration from the renowned violin maker Antonio Stradivari, the Stradivari loudspeaker has undergone a significant transformation. The most prominent alteration is its novel pentagonal shape, which, according to the company, promises an even more enriching auditory experience compared to its original elliptical footprint.
The enhanced features incorporated into the new Stradivari encompass a low-frequency adjustment mechanism, affording users control over ultra-low range tuning. Furthermore, a groundbreaking “anti-resonant organic basket” has been skillfully integrated into the bass driver to counteract vibration modes stemming from its membrane.
The innovative clepsydra technology has been seamlessly integrated into the reflex port, heightening the speaker’s low-frequency descent performance while intelligently managing the length of the reflex duct. Simultaneously, the proprietary INTONO technology ensures an exceedingly natural reproduction of medium frequencies, substantially reducing the dimensions and components of the crossover filter.
Referred to as a “3.5-way midrange sealed box” by Sonus faber, the second-generation Stradivari showcases a 28mm DAD Arrow Point tweeter in conjunction with a 150mm midrange driver featuring a neodymium magnet system. The audio setup is completed with the inclusion of two 260mm Dual Drive bass drivers. Impressively, the Stradivari boasts a sensitivity of 92dB and maintains a nominal impedance of 4 ohms.
The discerning consumer can select from a range of exquisite finish options including red, wenge, and graphite. This sonic masterpiece is currently available for purchase, albeit for a substantial price of £45,000.
