Everything about the Backes & Müller BMLine 35 is new—except the name. Technologically, it builds on the very first BM35, which around 20 years ago marked the relaunch of the German manufacturer. Until now, anyone wanting to equip a large, modern living room with great sound almost always had to rely on the large speakers of the BMLine series. Now, the patented cylindrical wave radiator—ingeniously minimizing the influence of room acoustics in large spaces—appears for the first time in a living-room-friendly super loudspeaker just 20 centimeters wide.

With its deliberately slim design and only 20 centimeters of baffle width, the B&M BMLine 35 blends seamlessly into any living environment—including very large and acoustically unoptimized rooms. Thanks to the unique, patented cylindrical wave radiator and the midrange line array, the BMLine 35 achieves vertical focusing of sound on the listening area while simultaneously offering an exceptionally wide listening zone. In-house technologies such as sensor control, in combination with built-in room calibration, guarantee perfect sound quality even when placed in a corner or close to a wall.

A special steel frame-base construction creates the visual impression of a floating sculpture that, despite its 1.7-meter height, does not dominate the room. An especially high-quality lacquer finish, accentuated driver surrounds, and the seemingly floating mounting of the baffle and side panels add further lightness to the appearance.
Any combination of lacquer colors, driver-surround finishes, and grooves is available in the Individual Edition.
As with all B&M active loudspeakers, amplifiers, digital crossover electronics, and D/A converters are already integrated into the speakers. This eliminates the need to drive the B&M BMLine 35 with bulky, imposing hi-fi components. A digital preamplifier such as the B&M ICE or a streaming preamplifier with variable outputs is sufficient to complete the ultimate high-end chain. The BMLine 35 features both digital and analog inputs.
In combination with B&M digital preamplifiers, the BM EasyLink technology can also be used. Here, digitally unaltered music signals and volume control are transmitted via a thin digital cable using lossless technology.

The BMLine 35 fulfills its claim to ultimate sound in any room not only qualitatively but also quantitatively: inside the tall yet elegantly slim sculpture are no fewer than four 30-centimeter bass drivers, all equipped with B&M’s patented sensor control.
The front is dominated by an array of ten midrange drivers, derived in their configuration from the flagship BMLine 60, which achieve uniform, far-reaching vertical sound directivity across their entire operating range while maintaining a large sweet spot. Reflections from the floor, ceiling, and the area behind the speakers are effectively suppressed.
At the heart of the BMLine 35 is the Fraunhofer cylindrical wave radiator with a one-inch tweeter, reproducing frequencies from 1,000 Hz upward with the highest possible transparency, dynamics, and fine resolution.
A total system power of 3,000 watts drives a single BMLine 35. The division into individual frequency bands takes place before the power amplifiers, using a patented FIRTech processor. In the BMLine 35, this processor handles all digital signal processing with perfectly phase-accurate frequency division and absolute time accuracy—even when using the built-in room adjustment. The bass drivers are mounted in sealed side volumes and, via sensor control, are precisely matched to the input signal by the patented control electronics, ensuring the best impulse response and tight, controlled bass.

The Backes & Müller BMLine 35 (Model Year 2026) will be ready for demonstration and available to order from authorized dealers starting January 15, 2026. The recommended retail price starts at €79,900 for the standard cabinet version and €94,900 for freely customizable custom versions. The first public listening demonstration will take place at the Norddeutsche HiFi Tage 2026 in Hamburg.
