MartinLogan has unveiled its new Depth series of subwoofers, featuring the Depth 212 and Depth 215 models, aimed at revolutionizing low-frequency reproduction. The Depth Series marks the culmination of MartinLogan's engineering innovation, delivering bass that is not only powerful but also impeccably clean and precise. With the inclusion of reference amplification, advanced DSP technology, and the new Carbon Aerocore woofers combined with their signature BalancedForce woofer design, these subwoofers promise to provide clear, distortion-free bass, enhancing both two-channel and multi-channel systems alike.
Allan Tarrant, MartinLogan's Senior Vice President, shared insights into the painstaking development process, stating, "Replacing our industry-leading BalancedForce subwoofers was no small undertaking. We started from scratch, designing something entirely new to elevate bass performance. I'm pleased to report that the Depth Series has surpassed our expectations in every aspect, from the design and build quality to sound performance." Andrew Lindsey, the product manager, emphasized the importance of the BalancedForce woofer configuration, which has been a cornerstone of their subwoofer technology for decades.
The Depth 212 and 215 leverage this dual-opposed design with a brand-new woofer cone material called Carbon Aerocore. This innovative material features a three-layer, unibody construction with carbon fiber, PMI structural foam, and glass fiber, providing an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio and remarkable self-damping properties—resulting in exceptionally clean, detailed, and articulate bass.
