Focal Introduces the Mu-so Hekla

Focal has unveiled the Mu-so Hekla, a groundbreaking all-in-one audio system aimed at transforming home theater experiences. This innovative device is purposed to deliver exceptional performance while ensuring ease of use, turning everyday moments into deep, emotional encounters with sound. The design takes inspiration from the Hekla volcano in Iceland, enhancing its impressive audiovisual offerings through Dolby Atmos technology, which enriches movies, music, and video games with stunning spatial audio supported by the expertise of Focal and Naim.

The Mu-so Hekla features an array of customizable audio modes, ranging from stereo to Dolby Atmos, all accessible through the user-friendly Focal & Naim app. Unique audio modes like Sphere Music and Sphere Movie are tailored by engineers at Focal and Naim, leveraging the Sphere module in the Naim Pulse Platform to provide remarkable hi-fi sound reproduction with superior processing capabilities.

Designed for effortless setup and operation, the Hekla connects seamlessly to various music sources, supporting high-resolution streaming. Users can control the system through various platforms, including their smartphones, smartwatches, voice assistants, or home automation systems. A tactile volume knob allows for smooth adjustments while granting access to key features.

Connectivity options are versatile, with HDMI eARC and optical Toslink ports that facilitate simple connections to televisions, gaming consoles, or CD/Blu-ray players. The system accommodates configurations from basic 2.0 setups to expansive 7.1.2 systems, offering instant music access via streaming solutions like AirPlay, Google Cast, UPnP, and Bluetooth, as well as direct integration with services like Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify, and QQ Music in China. The Focal & Naim app enhances user experience, featuring multi-room functionality for synchronized playback across multiple devices.

With 15 speaker drivers and a robust 660 watts of amplification, the Mu-so Hekla is capable of filling spaces up to 40 m² with rich, immersive sound. Powerful woofers deliver enveloping bass, and the option to connect an additional subwoofer enhances audio depth further. Utilizing advanced Beamforming and Crosstalk Cancellation technologies, the system achieves unparalleled sound localization for a captivating listening environment. Additionally, the intelligent ADAPT tuning technology fine-tunes the system to fit specific rooms and personal preferences, ensuring an optimal auditory experience.

The Mu-so Hekla’s industrial design boasts brushed anodized aluminum, exuding a refined luxury marked by its sculptural form. It features alternately brushed and bead-blasted finishes that evoke precision, reminiscent of high-end watches, and a signature volume knob adds to its aesthetic appeal. Heat management and integrated Wi-Fi connectivity are addressed cleverly in the design, with notable details reflecting its volcanic inspiration.

Set to debut in South Korea and China, the Focal Mu-so Hekla will be available in the first quarter, carrying a suggested price tag of $3,300, marking it as the premier all-in-one audio solution.
