The latest Bluesound PowerNode is engineered for versatility, functioning as a standalone device or integrating seamlessly into a more extensive audio setup. Featuring HDMI eARC support, it connects directly to televisions, enhancing audio-visual integration. This new model not only powers stereo speakers but also accommodates an additional center channel speaker, enabling a basic 3.1 system without needing a separate AV receiver. For those looking to create a full surround sound experience, it can wirelessly connect to other Bluesound devices, such as PULSE speakers and the PULSE SUB+, facilitating a 5.1 system without messy wiring.
The internal amplifier of the PowerNode has been significantly upgraded, incorporating an advanced DirectDigital™ design complemented by gallium nitride (GaN) transistors. This innovation allows for 100 watts per channel in stereo mode or 80 watts per channel when driving a 3.1 configuration, boasting enhanced efficiency and reduced distortion relative to earlier models.
Built on the BluOS multi-room platform, the new PowerNode supports over 20 streaming services and can handle audio quality up to 24-bit/192kHz, including MQA and DSD256. Users can take full control via the BluOS Controller app, available on various platforms, allowing them to stream local libraries, access internet radio, and synchronize playback across multiple BluOS devices in different rooms.
In terms of design, the PowerNode maintains a sleek, minimalist aesthetic with options for matte black or white finishes. It features a top-mounted glass panel equipped with a proximity sensor and five touch-sensitive, user-assignable presets, facilitating direct content access without the need for an app. Its compact form makes it easy to integrate into existing media systems or shelf-based HiFi setups.
Connectivity options have also been enhanced, now including USB-C audio input, optical and analog inputs, and aptX Adaptive Bluetooth. Additionally, a 6.3mm headphone output is powered by a dedicated THX AAA headphone amplifier, ensuring high-quality audio for headphone users. The new PowerNode is Dirac Live Ready, paving the way for future utilization of room correction software for precise audio tuning.
The new Bluesound PowerNode streaming amplifier is set to be available for pre-order starting August 12, 2025, with a retail price of €1099 EUR / £899 GBP, and is expected to ship on September 10, 2025. Customers can choose between matte black and white finishes.
