Albedo Audio has unveiled the Achema floorstanding speaker system, which boasts a 2.5-way configuration that embodies the brand’s hallmark design features, particularly the Albedo transmission line. This sleek speaker is engineered to effortlessly integrate into any home décor. Central to its performance are high-quality ceramic drivers that deliver sound characterized by richness in detail, dynamic range, and transparency. The innovative half-way design incorporates a larger driver, enlarging the radiating surface area to enhance sound pressure, combining the advantages of a 2.5-way speaker with the energy and dynamics akin to 3-way systems. This advancement allows the use of higher-impedance drivers, presenting speakers with nominal impedance exceeding the conventional 8 ohms, thus addressing a common shortfall in many 2.5-way models. Consequently, Albedo Achema speakers are easily driven by various amplifiers, requiring minimal power yet delivering optimal performance even with single-ended tube amplifiers.

This results in low distortion levels and a consistent musical balance. The Achema loudspeakers mark the inception of a new line of acoustic systems while reflecting the utmost qualities of Albedo’s renowned models such as AGADIA and ACCLARA, characterized by similar aesthetics and an emphasis on the mechanical stability of the cabinet, effectively minimizing vibrations with robust steel damping plates. The Achema speakers feature a newly designed enclosure that, while smaller and lighter, strikes the ideal balance between weight and stability essential for maintaining the notable sonic focus that is a brand signature. Enhanced by new side ports, these speakers not only facilitate easy room installation but also promote airflow stability, significantly curtailing turbulence that could disrupt sound quality, thereby allowing the system to extend its dynamic range and bass response.

Even though the enclosures are compact, they are constructed using durable wooden panels, with thicknesses reaching up to 30 mm in critical areas. Furthermore, the newly engineered crossover boards aim to minimize solder points and copper traces while strategically positioning components to mitigate magnetic field interaction. This optimization leads to a sensitivity increase of +1 dB SPL over standard solutions, utilizing MUNDORF components which are believed to elevate transparency, dynamics, and musical realism. To ensure proper mechanical and microphone isolation for the audio signal processing components, the crossover is situated in a compartment fully isolated from the acoustic chamber.
